Eco Friendly Wedding Ideas

Now more than ever, the world is looking at ways to be more resourceful and less wasteful. Some may think that sounds “cheap”, but is it really? Let's dive into the ways you can have a gorgeously manicured wedding while remaining sustainable. There are quite a few techniques and ideas to use that will be aesthetically pleasing on your big day without sacrificing on cost.

Let's start off with lighting! Shine bright like a diamond as Ms.Rihanna says. Most people have their wedding ceremony during the day and reception at night, but why not do them both during the day. You can eliminate the need for lighting or an indoor hall when you can utilize the sun as your lighting for free! Another option if you still wish to have a night time wedding party is to invest in solar panel lighting. During the day, while you're performing your religious ceremony, those bad boys can generate energy from the sunlight and be used for the evening affairs, in a sustainable manner.

If you're having a small, intimate wedding, candles could be a great form of lighting during a ceremony or reception. And when all is done and the party's over, your family and friends can take a candle with them for keepsake.

In the old school ways, mailed our invitations have always been the form of invite to any occasion. In this new day and age, electronic invites, whether it be for a save the date, bridal shower, or wedding invite, can be a tree saving option. And if the elderly are not tech savvy, a simple call on the phone is sufficient enough. Most of the elders still have a landline connected with a voicemail they check frequently.

Little details make all the most out of a wedding or party. Anything personalized, people love. It makes them feel like their presence was truly appreciated. Place cards with each individual's name can be a simple yet elegant touch to your table decor. Instead of using regular paper, options for bamboo or recycled options can be eco-friendly. And when the party's over, your guests can take these personalized name cards as a thank you for attending.

A lot of times, parties will utilize different types of confetti, streamers, glitter, shimmer, and more. Instead of using these items that are not eco friendly, another option is dried out petals. They are biodegradable and do no harm to the environment.

We look at napkins as nothing but its actual use. But in all reality, it is not eco friendly. Some options are to utilize pure linen, or other materials that can be washed and reused as opposed to items that can be discarded at its first use. Same thing goes for tableware. Utilizing glass, natural wood, etc. can be a great option and not wasteful.

When it comes to the location of your wedding or party, that becomes the biggest part of the night. Will you have an outdoor wedding, which minimizes the need for electricity usage or will you have both, religious ceremony and reception, done at the same location to minimize your guest from traveling and wasting gas *that is very expensive* at this time. Choosing the right location is key to a successful eco- friendly event.

Lastly, and by far the most important in my opinion, is food. Guests enjoy dancing, seeing the bride and groom engulfed in love, but guests look forward to the food as they are famished from all the celebrations. But when the party is all said and done, what happens to all the food that was not accounted for? Finding out if certain venues or caterers have a food waste policy. Perhaps they are willing to allow guests to take food home with them when the party's over to avoid it being wasted. You can provide them with recycled take out containers for your guest to pick and choose the goodies they wish to take home with them for a late night snack. Perhaps the food that was not cooked can be donated to a local shelter ,food banks or charities, to feed the needy. Confirming the food waste policy is important to avoid unnecessary waste.

All of the above are important points to review when conducting an environmentally worthy wedding or party. Make sure to take your time and do your research before making any decisions. It is important to thoroughly rule out pro’s and con’s in all cases. Choosing what works best for you, is ultimately the most important part because your happiness will reflect on your party and choices made.

MOST OF THE TIME, WEDDING GUESTS ARE EXPECTING TO TAKE HOME A SIMPLE THANK YOU CARD, A CANDLE WITH A DATE ON IT, OR A JAR WITH LITTLE CANDIES IN THEM AS A WEDDING FAVOR. Guest Book Ideas

INSTEAD OF HAVING THE SAME OLD BLANK GUEST BOOK TO HAVE YOUR FAMILY AND FRIENDS RANDOMLY WRITE THEIR WELL WISHES, WHY NOT GO A BIT FURTHER THAN THAT. HAVE A POLAROID CAMERA READY FOR YOUR GUESTS TO CAPTURE THEIR JOY ATTENDING YOUR WEDDING. THIS IS A HEARTWARMING WAY OF ALLOWING YOUR GUESTS TO SHOWCASE HOW HAPPY THEY ARE FOR YOU BOTH. THEY CAN FOLLOW UP WITH THE PHOTO BOOK ADDING WORDS OF LOVE AND ADVICE TO YOU BOTH WRITTEN NEXT TO THEIR PICTURES, THAT WAY YOU KNOW WHO WROTE WHAT AND YOU CAN THANK THEM LATER DOWN THE LINE WHEN THEIR ADVICE WAS USED IN YOUR MARRIAGE.
