So many couples look forward to setting up their engagement photoshoot. They prepare by picking the date, location, season, and so on. A lot of the time, summer or spring is the time to take photos as you're surrounded by the blossoming flowers and cherry blossom trees. Unlike those who prefer the warm seasons, I differ! I love the fall and winter vibes. I enjoy the earth tones and cozy feelings that come with the colder seasons. So this blog post is to convince and provide you with cute and creative ideas to consider when you choose to do a fall/ winter engagement photo shoot.

We see the cliche fairy tale vibes, taken in the summer, near a botanical garden or a field of blossoming flowers, but did it ever occur to you to be the spotlight of the photo, rather than being blended with the rest of your scenery? There is something so magical and crisp about winter white background photos. Talk about ice princess vibes! A great way to give yourself that princess vibes is to incorporate a tulle dress or skirt for some added drama! Instead of the background being the main focus, it will be you in the tunnel vision view.

Winter time calls for holiday festivities! A cozy and comfy way to incorporate the two is by pulling out your holiday sweaters or matching PJ’s and taking some fun candid photos. Let it pop, wear something bright, and you will most definitely stand out against the snow falling background.

Everyone always posts the same old hand in your face, showing off your beautiful ring. Perhaps incorporating a sentimental message where it's just your hands showing could be a delicate and simple touch. Grab your favorite coffee or tea, write a little message to one another on the cup, and let the photographer capture your love, simply. Not to mention, we love a warm up moment in the freezing cold!

Not everything requires color. An elegant twist to the classic white out photos is to request your photographer to take some shots in black and white. It will make such a beautiful photo! Trust me, you wont regret it!

Everyone is so particular about how they want to look. You're either standing in a prom-like stance or you're looking in opposite directions. Sometimes letting go and just being yourselves, even if it comes off goofy, will make the picture so much more memorable. You will look back at that photo and remember what made you say yes in the first place. The resting bride face and the confused groom look isn’t it.

If you're from New Jersey, then you sure played in the snow growing up. And maybe some of us still do as adults or for hobby sake. Don't be shy or insecure if your photographer gets up close and personal. We want to capture the love you both see from one another. In order to do that, being up close and candid will be the recipe to an amazing shot. Let the snow land on your manicured hair, let the drops of snow that have melted land on your lips and let the photographer capture that vulnerable moment. Being different and showing that to others, only makes the experience even more memorable.

Another great addition to the cold is being near the water. Although you will be freezing your butts off, it would make a great background to your winter wonderland vibe.
